Topic: Biodiversity Communications Officer vacancy at BIS

The Biodiversity Information Service for Powys and Brecon Beacons National Park (BIS) is the independent local environmental records centre (LERC) which acts as the focus for the collation, management and use of information on the wildlife of Powys and Brecon Beacons National Park (BBNP). BIS is a member of LERC Wales Ltd which includes the 4 independent welsh LERCs that aim to provide seamless biodiversity information across Wales. The following p/t post is an opportunity to work at our Brecon office, within the beautiful area of BBNP, and help to promote the work of BIS supporting wildlife recording in the area.

Communications officer - This post requires someone who has relevant experience of biological recording and understands the role of LERCs. The successful applicant must be IT literate, imaginative, preferably with experience of producing promotional material and using social media. Most importantly, the successful applicant will be a good communicator with good organisational skills and the ability to work to a very high standard within a small team. They should be able to demonstrate their commitment to biodiversity and be highly motivated to get the general public involved with watching and recording wildlife.

Salary will be £21,000 pro rata depending on skills and experience. The position is a 3 day per week p/t post initially for 12 months, but looking to extend if funding remains in place.
