Topic: Ordnance Survey national grid layers

I uploaded some OS national grid layers to Github. Feel free to download and use as you please:

https://github.com/charlesroper/OSGB_Grids

There are GeoJSON version in there too - useful for web mapping. Try clicking on the files to see previews right there in Github.

You can download all of the files in a batch by clicking the download as zip button (screenshot).

How odd, can't get those shapefiles to open in Q GIS (am selecting the .shp files as ESRI)

Strange as all shp files open in my QGIS 2.0.1!

Try dragging one of the shp files directly from Explorer into a blank project.
