Topic: GBIF

Is it just me who would like the next NBN conference to talk about GBIF. I know vaguely that all data from the NBN Gateway is put onto GBIF (at 10km resolution????) and that you can download it from there, which was part of the reason for the current consultation about changing things on the Gateway. But I'd like to understand more about what GBIF is, future developments etc.

e.g. One of our records:

http://data.gbif.org/occurrences/359310084/

It is thus probably in our interests to keep an eye on developments at GBIF (the world portal to "free and open access biodiversity data").

They are currently consulting on a position paper which is worth a scan.
