Later this year YHEDN will be running a number of workshops around the region funded by the National Biodiversity Network ( http://www.nbn.org.uk).
The aim of the workshops is for naturalists to share their experiences – good and bad – of the various recording software packages on the market either commercially or for free.
The workshops will be informal days where members of different groups can get together and chat. There will be a number of informal demos of different software packages through the day and people can attend whichever demos they like.
If people strongly advocate the software they use, what we'd really like to do is get them to attend one or more workshops and run a demo of that software package to potential users. If you would be prepared to do a demo of your software, please let us know. We can pay travel expenses for the workshops.
In advance of the workshops we are circulating a questionnaire to try and identify the range of software being used and what's good and bad about it.
The idea of the questionnaire is to get people who already record using software to explain what they use and why they use it. Once we have the responses we will get them printed up as fact sheets which attendees to the workshops can take away with them.
