Some of you may have already heard of John van Breda before, but if not, he works for Dorset Software and is the head programmer and team leader for Recorder. He is, essentially, the guy who built Recorder 6. There is quite literally no-one out there who knows Recorder better.
He emailed me recently to let me know that he's leaving Dorset Software in September to become an independent consultant. This is great news as it effectively means there will be some more Recorder consulting expertise out there for us to call on. Here's the email he sent to me (posted on here with his permission):
“In September I will be leaving Dorset Software to set up as self-employed in the biodiversity informatics sector. I will continue to work closely with Dorset Software and to participate in the Recorder project to help ensure that its success continues.
I hope that I will be able to provide a useful service to record centres and other organisations both in their use of Recorder and for other biodiversity informatics projects. Furthermore I will be working closely with Charles Copp and I believe that our combined experience, knowledge and practical experience will be a useful combination. Over the last 10 years I have worked predominantly in this sector and have gained valuable experience of data modelling, SQL Server, Delphi, PHP, MySQL and .NET technologies through involvement in a combination of desktop and web applications. I also have been the senior team leader responsible for the Recorder, Collections Module and all related projects so have a lot of experience of system design and IT management.”

Just used John van Breda to help twice with some recruitment. I am happy to give a reference should you and he both be willing.
